Weekly Webcomic Wrapup slept in

"Huh, what time is it?" asked the webcomic wrapup as it crawled out of bed, reaching for its Pip Boy alarm clock that did not yet exist.

"It's 5 o'clock," said the omniscient narrator.

"Why is there so much sunlight, then?"

"It's 5 o'clock P.M."

"Oh no, I was supposed to get this up earlier today!"

"Correction, it's Sunday."

"Oh no, I'm a day late!"

"Correction, it's Sunday, September 7. You're over a week late."

"... @!#?@!"

Readers pick best webcomic: A life of service

Maybe it's the upcoming expo, or that we made the focus of this week's wrapup on the comic series, or maybe (just maybe) it was the favored gaming comic. Whatever the reasons, Penny Arcade's "A Life of Service" took top honors in the webcomic wrapup.

Second place was taken by 2P Start's Level Up!, while Hijinks Ensue's Scared Straight claimed a distant third. A special mention goes to Robot Martini's two great tastes, which came in last place, even though we actually quite enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup asks, 'What would you ask Tycho and Gabe?'

Next week at the Penny Arcade Expo, we've been given a chance to sit down for an interview with PA creators Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik (i.e. Tycho and Gabe). While we'd love to brainstorm hard-hitting questions for the two, we suddenly realize we're very lazy people. So please tell us what you would ask the Dynamic Duo and we'll pick out the best quesitons and use them in our interview.

Here are our (admittedly too numerous) picks for the week's best game-related webcomic. Polling after the break; be sure to vote for your favorite!

Level Up! (2P Start)
The Latest Score (Castle Vidcons)
two great tastes (Robot Martini)
A Life of Service (Penny Arcade)
For Aiur (MNC)
That Famous Equation (Digital Unrest)
The Force Unleashed (Extra Life)

Scared Straight (Hijinks Ensue)

Readers pick best webcomic: Gears of Conflict Resolution

Despite (or perhaps because of) the similarities to an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force from 2004, Penny Arcade's Gears of Conflict Resolution took top honors in this week's webcomic wrapup. We'd also like to take a moment to remind everyone of the 300 "PG" parody, since we still can't stop ourselves from shouting "This is Cake Town" at least once a day at random strangers.

Second and third place go to Ctrl+Alt+Del's Moar Co-Op and Monday Night Crew's Street Dated. A special nod goes to mudron's debut in the wrapup. Thanks to everyone who voted; be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is unoriginal

... and we don't mean anything stolen from other Joystiq features. We're just a fan of self-referential webcomics and wanted to highlight Scott Dewitt's Fanboys strip from earlier this week. Also making it appropriate, we saw a preview for Disaster Movie last night and wanted to end ourseles to the pain. Here are our picks for the week's best game-related webcomic. Polling after the break; be sure to vote for your favorite!

Gamers (Urf)
Gears of Conflict Resolution (Penny Arcade)
I'm as much of a fan of Braid as everyone else ... (mudron)
Warning! Challenger Approaching (2P Start)
Block Head (Fanboys Online)
Moar Co-Op (CAD)
Street Dated (MNC)
Besting Thee (Castle Vidcons)
New Heroes (Burn the Internet)

Readers pick best webcomic: Fundamental Theorem of War

A flood of Greek letters coming after us is just like those dreams we had in high school the night before our Calculus exams. So it's only natural that 2P Start's The Fundamental Theorem of War bring back intense feelings of elation (or perhaps pain and suffering, if you're not huge math geeks). Fitting for us, then, that it had the highest rate of change from 0, or more accurately, it had the most votes in this week's webcomic wrapup.

Second and third place both went to Penny Arcade with Anguish and For Your Consideration, respectively. Thanks to everyone who voted; be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup revisits the classics

Digital Unrest's Chris Simmons originally made this comic in April 2006, and we subsequently crashed his servers. The strip has bee remade this week with new art and, given that it never got a fair shot last time, we're going to throw it in again this week. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Chris. Here are our picks for the week's best game-related webcomic. Polling after the break; be sure to vote for your favorite!

Orderly Debate (Digital Unrest)
The World May Never Know (Fanboys Online)
Bluetooth Headset (CAD Minis)
For Your Consideration (Penny Arcade)
Rupees Cannot Buy Hearts (MNC)
The Fundamental Theorem of War (2P Start)
Anguish (Penny Arcade)
Giving Birth (Castle Vidcons)

(Not game-related, but make sure you read PVP Online's five-part FoxTrot/Family Circus "tribute")

Readers pick best webcomic: Impressions of Nintendo's E3 conference

Let's be honest: Shigeru Miyamoto would never post on Joystiq, and if he would, we'd like to think our response would be something wittier than ":(". So while we object to The Slackerz' totally false characterization of us, we are required by Blogger Law to award it webcomic of the week.

A very close second (as of this writing) goes to Dueling Analogs, with Digital Unrest in third. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup has a case of mistaken identity

Truth be told, we just wanted to point out Cyanide and Happiess' comic, but it wasn't directly game-related. The Webcomic Wrapup doesn't usually get confused for anything except maybe a soundboard for why we have horrible taste in comics or why webcomics in general are the scourge of the internet (and seeing what passes on the internet for entertainment ... wow). Then again, maybe that's our raison d'etre.

As for Joystiq, well, les personnes nous confusé tout les temps. Here are our picks for the week's best game-related webcomic. Polling after the break; be sure to vote for your favorite!

Here's Looking at You, Kid (CAD Comics)
Double Entendre (Dueling Analogs)
Truth in Numbers (Digital Unrest)
A Trap (MNC)
Missing the Target (2P Start)
Nintendo. ... (Slackerz)
Reincarnation (Robot Martini)
Star Caliber (The Ninja Ken)

Readers pick best webcomic: Waiting

Eliciting over 100 comments for the post, Scott Ramsoomair's "Waiting" VG Cats comic was certainly one of the more debated wins of the webcomic wrapup series.

Second and third place both go to 2P Start ("A Different Directive" and "Goomba vs. Roomba", respectively -- remember, we want you to vote for individual strips and not the webcomic series itself). A special nod goes to Monday Night Crew's George Carlin tribute. Thanks to everyone who voted and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup gets a Reality Check

Personally, we think still drawing comics at 25 would elicit quite a joyful expression. Here are our picks for the week's best game-related webcomic. Polling after the break; be sure to vote for your favorite!

Selective Service (Penny Arcade)
Worser and Worser (Dueling Analogs)
Vintage Genes (Digital Unrest)

Some Type of Vermin (Castle Vidcon)

Readers pick best webcomic, with or without Yahtzee

Yeah, we figured the Zero Punctuation would do well in the webcomic wrapup, by a large margin. Here's how it breaks down, with and without the Yahtzee factor:

With the Yahtzee Factor
Without the Yahtzee Factor
Thanks to everyone voted. We'll be going Yahtzee-less from now on; be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup, now with more Yahtzee

Given the subject matter of this week's Zero Punctuation, we thought we'd throw Yahtzee into the webcomic poll to see how he fares. Also, we're looking for the best gaming webcomic (strip, not series), so let us know your all-time favorite in the comments below.

Here are our picks for the week's best game-related webcomic. Polling after the break; be sure to vote for your favorite!
