Hurray! I'm "pesky"!

Although, considering the alternatives, that's not a bad thing for the time being...

"pesky Americans and their money"

Typical arrogant american attitude. You think that Americans are the only ones with money? I would guess that the european game market is bigger than the US one so it could make sense to hold Ubidays in Europe and skip E3.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was rude to realize that the american economy is stronger than all of europe's put together.

@ hrshgn

" I would guess that the european game market is bigger than the US"

You would guess WRONG, sucka! Look, let's put it this way. Europe is the third largest game market in regards to hardware and software sales. This is nothing to be shamed of. And your damn PAL standardized format works against you in the gaming market because most companies put priority on the TV format that service two massive regions rather than on massive region. But you guys also have several things better over there as well.

Also, Ubidays is NOT skipping MiniE3, merely whining about it. And for the record, a huge amount of sales for Ubisoft comes from us dirty, arrogant american bastards. Don't complain.

typical europian anti-american rant...

2: As a matter of fact, the US market is greater in both absolute and proportionate terms. So, out of curiosity, what would you have bet and lost?

3: More wrongness. The EU's GDP is actually a bit bigger than the US's.

Which isn't a real surprise, given that the EU is significantly larger than the US.

It's not a joke, it's sarcasm. And where are YOUR references to the numbers which show that the european game market is smaller?

Anyway. It doesn't really matter. IMHO the post shows a certain attitude saying that you cannot ignore america because all the money is coming from there. And I don't like this attitute, that's all.

@hrshgn

The sources that say that are blasted all over the internet. Look at weekly sales charts, console sales worldwide, revenue for gaming in each country. It's not our fault if you like to complain about things you know nothing about.

...it's called google, or yahoo, or whatever you prefer

"IMHO the post shows a certain attitude saying that you cannot ignore america because all the money is coming from there. And I don't like this attitute, that's all."

It's not an attitude that all the money is coming from here but considering tha massive amount of sales Ubisoft has seen in the US/Canada market, yeah... THIS IS A MARKET THEY CAN'T FUCKING IGNORE.

It's simple math. Xbox 360 has it's strongest market in... you guessed it, the US. Ubisoft is heavily invested in the 360. So naturally, Ubisoft HAS to show something in the US.

But even if we ignore those facts, let's take a look at something else. They held Ubidays as an E3 for Europe but guess who's invited? I mean, why don't they just wait until the german Xbox show? I mean, it's a ton of companies... wait, competition of course. So naturally, this guy talks about how Ubidays is a Europe equivelant of E3 because E3 is just for the US (funny, nobody bitches when TGS turns out to be held in... Tokyo). The US is just where it's held because it's ran by the ESA and the ESA is an American company. But you're right. This is all about equality instead of yet another predictable "fuckin americans" comment. So next year, I suggest the ESA just export the E3 show to South Africa.

Hey, they need a game industry boost much more than your whiny ass.

@Crono
Dude... the GBP is worth more than the USD. Put your patriotic cock away because it just reveals how uneducated you are.

hrshgn,

Get a life. That line you object to was clearly in jest. If you have a problem with the reality that the US economy is larger than the economy of the entire continent of europe then don't b*tch here. Even with all of the leftwingers in the US we're still a nation of creative, hardworking, risk taking individuals. If this reality cuts you so deep then perhaps you'd be better off b*tching about the widespread european mentality of sloth, whining, and dependency that has polluted your continent with socialism.

14: Exchange rates are poor indicators of economic strength. Econ 101. One yen = a very small fraction of a GBP, USD, or euro, but that's not due to the strength and/or weakness of the involved economies.

The GBP, is, by the way, less popular among global investors than any of the other three currencies mentioned above, which is a good indicator.
